These Native Aremican paintings spring to life in the body of Shannon's work. He also has paintings of the dramatic Western landscape and Western wildlife. All his paintings uniquely capture this time period and geography.
When seeking softer themes he paints historical period children, often with animals. Again seeking quieter and softer material he sometimes paints the beauty of local environment. His art is involved with the relationship of man to the natural world, whether it is in the soft turn in the cheek of an Indian girl or in the rugged snow covered face of a mountain.
