The cougar, ears flattened and tense is trying to get close enough to its dinner to catch it in one bound. The design of the painting was my major motivation in doing this work. I trapped the cougar in the frame of the top and bottom logs, with the buck and waterfall underneath. A piece of the log juts out and points at the deer. I felt these factors greatly strengthened the pictures.
